At-Risk Homeowners To Converge On Washington DC To Fight Foreclosures
FIGHTING FORECLOSURES AND PREDATORY LENDERS
As readers know I have been following the subprime disaster in this blog. Other articles and a forthcoming book, PLUNDER. I am also reporting on growing resistance to an increasingly desperate situation. Here’a a release from NACA about their upcoming Washington offensive,
Thousands Journey to Washington, DC July 19-23 to Save their Homes.
“Millions of Americans cannot celebrate this Independence Day when they are dependent on and ‘in hock’ to lenders banks and on the verge of foreclosure” states NACA CEO Bruce Marks.
NACA Provides Mortgage Solutions to At-Risk Homeowners
WASHINGTON, DC, July 3: NACA the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, will announce the kick-off of the “Save the Dream” Conference, July 19th -23rd at the Capital Hilton, at a Press Conference, July 9, 10.:30 AM, at the Capital Hilton Hotel.
Never before will many homeowners be matched with hundreds of counselors at once to achieve immediate solutions. NACA counselors will assist thousands of at-risk homeowners and provide restructure solutions that permanently reduce their interest rate to make payments affordable and obtain servicer/lender approval within hours of submission, often the same day. NACA has been successful in reducing interest rates to what homeowners can afford - often to 5% or less - setting the standard in the foreclosure prevention industry. NACA will provide permanent solutions and offer help, hope, counseling and mortgage assistance – all free! Washington-area religious and civic leaders will join NACA to offer support to homeowners with an unaffordable mortgage.
Thousands of threatened American homeowners will meet with their Senators and Congresspersons to demand that their representatives advocate for them and other at risk homeowners to achieve their NACA Mortgage Restructure from banks and mortgage servicers. “They will demand attention and action from Congress and the Administration.
Sadly, for struggling homeowners, July 4th is now ‘Dependence Day’” declares Bruce Marks, CEO of NACA, the nonprofit, Boston-based Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America, which represents over 500,000 homeowners.
“Millions of Americans are facing foreclosure and the loss of economic independence because of unaffordable mortgages. There has been no effective government response; the pending legislation will have virtually no impact in saving the homes of millions of at-risk homeowners.” Marks, recently named “Bostonian of the Year” by the Boston Globe, is a recognized national leader in the fight against predatory lenders and the search for economic justice.
NACA will showcase real and effective solutions for thousands of homeowners without the need for a taxpayer subsidy. NACA is doing what Congress, the Administration and many lenders are NOT doing to help hardworking Americans in need: finding solutions and helping prevent foreclosure. StudentLoanJustice.org: FIGHTING BACK ON STUDENT LOANS:
Millions of decent Americans are being strong armed by student loan companies under the weight of federal law into repaying far, far more than what they borrowed. Their lives are being ruined by wage garnishment, tax garnishment, suspension of state licenses, and a purposely confusing and convoluted bureaucracy.
StudentLoanJustice.Org was created in 2004 as a grassroots campaign to persuade Congress to undo the laws that have made the student loan companies so rich over the last decade, and made you pay SO MUCH MORE than you originally borrowed. We have been featured on 60 Minutes, the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and nearly every other major newspaper in the country. We also recently completed a book, the Student Loan Scam. Last year, we formed a Political Action Committee , and traveled through 42 states to bring attention to this issue. We have roughly three thousand members nationwide, and were instrumental in causing the Student Borrower Bill of Rights to be introduced in the 2006-2007. We need to increase our numbers significantly. This is a huge problem…there are roughly 5-10 million citizens whose lives have been crushed by their student loans, so this really is only the beginning.
