Our film was sold to the East Germans thanks to Jim Haynes at the Arts Lab. Paris was a victory because the choice was made not to follow the CP with guns as they had co opted too many other movemenats and the 'students' did not want a blood bath. Debord saw that it was over on the 24 of May.I hung in there. What I won was sense of trust that people can organize themselves, their dreams and desires quite well thank you. When I arrived in Paris on the 10th The Cohen-Bendits were celebs and we were interested in the deeper side of things. Later at Cinema Action I saw why he was recouped and reified. I married my husband on a Saturday in 1966 and he shipped off to Vietnam the next day. When he returned we protested the war together. The one thing that my husband was adamant about was that our son, should we have one in the future, would never go and fight in a war. This from a man who was a Marine and still is at heart. We have to learn and understand that might is not always strength. We live in a world about to explode or implode from hunger, unfair labor practices, wars and the unreined corporatocracy that has infected business practices throughout the world in a quest for gain and greed at any cost.
