I used to think that only the people in my family were thin skinned and responded negatively to criticism but apparently, as himan beings we all respond to what we perceive as an attack. The current media climate has created a discussion free environment about most issues. The prognosticating pundits and their constant shrill tones used to villify anyone that holds a thought contrary to theirs have infected Americans and their ability to think rationally about how much and why they pay so much for a gallon of gasoline or have not received a decent cost of living wage in over twenty years. We have become a nation of people overwhelmed by our emotions while being completely uninformed about the issues that we cling to so violently. A man that I admire greatly for the books that he has written and his ability to foretell the future, Ray Bradbury, wrote about a future that is fast becoming our reality in "Fahrenheit 451."
