I'm actually saddened that Obama was forced to disavow his connection to Rev. Wright. The sadness is based on the fact that as a political candidate, he is supposed to appease the mob, in this case the MSM. No one really wants to look at what Obama has lost, as person because of the pressure from the media and in turn the voting public. What Rev. Wright says and does is of no importance to this presidential election and what he says and does will have no effect on whether or not the concept of freedom has been bastradized by a media intent on smearing a political candidate.
The point is, black and white Americans, even though we speak the same language don't really communicate clearly with one another on the issues of race. The are white racists and there are black racists and a whole lot of people in between, but the fact remains that if certain black people say that the sun is shining there will will a ton of white people to solidly delcare that the sun isn't shinig.
Obama was forced to give up part of his humanity, and yes a part of his humanity to regain control of his campaign by disavowing his connection to a man he had shared many things with, including arguments about ideals and different philosophies. And therein lies the rub: black Americans are still a people who are without an ancestral biography and identity and God knows that white America will never allow blacks to identify with American culture as their own.
It's time we grow up people. No one should have the power to force people to "chosse" who they associate with ot not; especially when that association has nothing to do with the real issues that plague our nation - the war in Iraq, the debacle of this administration and interntional relations, the economy, jobs and homes being lost at an accelerated rate and that feeling in the pit of a lot of Americans' guts, that good old fashioned fear about their future!
