SPITZGERGATE CHAPTER 999 FOR CLIENT 9: WAS THERE A CHENEY-SPITZER CONNECTION?

Oh, how a dog loves a good bone. The tabloid press is at its most entertaining when it its thrown a sex scandal, always great for seling papers. Thursday’s NY POST devoted yet another two full pages to yet a new hooker claiming to have serviced Eliot Spitzer.
The page carried the word EXCLUSIVE in Red!

She is another Kristin. Last names: “Billie” Davis. Her bosomy photo is all over page one with the assumed guilty again Spitzer smiling in an inset. Police are all over this Kristin’s records hoping to entrap more high profile Johns/pols. How yummy for circulation. The well-endowed Madam who ran “Wicked Models” escort agency was pissed with the cops who busted her in her non-form fitting gym clothes.

Is there more to this saga? Was Spitzer set-up? One journalist/muckraker, Kirby Sommer’s thinks so and has infused here own journalistic imagination into the investigation projecting a Cheney link to the Spitzer scenario.

She posted her piece day ago but, in fascinating turn, it is dated in far off October 2008 when she foresees this tantalizing link will likely be revealed.

Given how many political pundits are so wrong so often in the present, why shouldn’t writers not consider likely futures?

CHENEY LINKED TO TAKE DOWN OF ELIOT SPITZER

A former top aide to Vice President Dick Cheney told a federal grand jury that President George W. Bush authorized him to leak information about Eliot Spitzer’s use of prostitutes from a classified intelligence report to a New York Times reporter. Details of the testimony were included in a court filing made yesterday by Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald, who is prosecuting the former aide for perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false statements in connection with the probe into the leaking of Spitzer’s sexual exploits which resulted in the scandalous resignation of the Governor of the State of New York.

According to Fitzgerald’s filing the aide testified that he provided a New York Times reporter with information from a classified National Intelligence Estimate after being told by Cheney that Bush “specifically had authorized” him to “disclose certain information in the NIE” The aide also testified that Cheney, upon urging from Senate Majority Leader Joseph Bruno, specifically directed him to seek out the services of Republican dirty trickster Roger Stone.

Bruno denies these allegations pointing out that he severed his ties to Stone back in August 2007 after Stone left a threatening phone message at the office of Spitzer’s elderly father.

The leaking of the classified material was apparently done in an effort to silence claims made by Spitzer regarding the Bush administration’s partnership with predatory mortgage lenders which resulted in two million families losing their homes to foreclosures.

The Fitzgerald filing also notes the aide told grand jurors that he conferred with David Addington, Cheney’s counsel, about the leak directive and that Addington told him “that Presidential authorization to publicly disclose a document amounted to a declassification of the document” While both Bush and Cheney have been interviewed by Fitzgerald, it is unknown whether they confirmed or disputed the aide’s assertion that he was authorized to disclose findings in classified reports.

An article written by former Governor Spitzer is said to have been the catalyst for President Bush and Vice President Cheney to promptly rid themselves of Eliot Spitzer.

Kirby told me she was shocked to be flooded with calls and requests from other more linear fact-based investigators. Several sites picked up her well-written prognostication and, already readers are commenting on it,some accepting its literary projection as probably true.

She is hoping to write a book on the inner tissue of this issue and seems to have a deep intuition about what really happened as opposed to what was reported on the surface. She believes her work is monitored and she tracked the pick-ups on Google.

Don’t be dismissive. She’s a credible and good writer, Bear in mind that its been said that you read journalism once and literature twice. The one is of the moment, the other for all time.

Journalism is not just a craft of stenography but, at its best, an act of the imagination, deeper thought, and connecting dots into a plausible narratives to tease out motives and layers of experience.

She’s a writer who became an activist at the time of the Katrina disaster, and now a blogger who navigates between the worlds of politics and the subterranean trusting her instincts and intuition but not everything she sees and reads.

She may be onto something big here, bigger than a media merger between fiction and faction–and if she is, she will be right to claim she had it first. Stay tuned for more.
