Dissector Forum: Ed On Chomsky, Palast on Hartmann

Ed writes:

“Manufacturing Consent” is an EXCELLENT book and all who want to really know their world should read it. It is true that it is widely known and discussed outside of our Country.

But there is an exception. It, and the Author Chomsky (Prof of Linguistics at MIT) are not well known in our Country. The forces written about have been very effective in keeping Chomsky from being known to the masses of our Country, our US of A, that is most effected by the Propaganda Machine.

The post said;

“their “model” is ignored in most journalism schools”
———–

I don’t know that it is ignored in most journalism schools.

Rather - I would say that Journalist who want to advance in their careeer, and increase their income, read it and then conform their style of journalism as the book indicates.

They thus become an even more valuable tool of the Propaganda Machine. They know that those that don’t not only forfit advancement in position and income but also risk losing employment in Journalism.

I remember thinking, while reading it, that this excellent expose of Propaganda in our Country would be used to enhance the Propaganda and its effect rather than expose and dampen it as intended by Chomsky. And I believe it did. The expose’ of the Machine became MANUAL for the MODEL that had already been implemented starting just before WW II as part of the War Effort.

GREG PALAST ON THOM HARTMANN

We’re not asking for much: a Social Security check that won’t bounce, schools for our kids that won’t make them dumber, a fighting chance for a job that will let us take the tykes to Disney World, health insurance, and, when the waters rise, a government that will have some kind of plan to pluck us from the flood.

Fat chance.

Thom Hartmann’s written a killer new book, “Screwed: The Undeclared War Against the Middle Class — And What We Can Do About It.” Here’s the Afterward I wrote for it. Read this, listen to Thom and I today on your local Progressive Talk/Air America station. Then get the book, get the point, get active.

    I believe that Greg Palast has 500 contraband emails from Rove’s pen. But the admin and media Rove-Bots prefer to ignore them, for now. What I want to know is why isn’t Congress talking to Palast? I realize they have their hands full with existing scandals, but this one should be a priority.

    As for Thom Hartmann, a day without his show is like a day without sunshine. He’s so cool, and always erudite, funny, a humanist, and on our side. And great songs, too.
