“I am sitting here absolutely flabbergasted at what I am seeing on CNN, they running a show entitled “Man of War” starring Donald Rumsfeld,they are trying turn this guy into a hero. They have got to be kidding me! This is shameless propaganda and it hard to believe they could be this blatant about it, have they lost all respect for themselves as supposed reporters of the news..

Have they lost all respect for the intelligents of the American people. Do they truly believe we are not smart enough to see through this? My god has it really gotten this bad! I have to pinch myself to see if perhaps have not fallen asleep and woken up In the old USSR.

Its worse than you think. AP reported from Nicaragua last night: “- Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, coming under renewed fire for his management of the Iraq war, said Sunday he is not considering resigning and said the president had called him personally in recent days to express his continued support.”

“Hi Danny, Having known that there was no depth of iniquity that this government wasn’t capable of, it is no surprise that they have sunk as low as they have. But, what is shocking to me, is how completely full of despair and grief I feel over what has transpired. In the past, I would have been outraged and wanted to gather every human being I knew who had the ability to walk and shout and get out on the streets. Now I feel so ashamed and humiliated by this band of crooks that I feel like hiding in shame.

I never believed in American exceptionalism. But I did believe in the value of laws to regulate and keep a check on what was possible and permissible in terms of how we treated one another and the consequences for doing unthinkable injury to one another. Now, even that is removed. We have no recourse and no hope. When you remove hope you have taken away the last thing a person/nation can count on to re-build and/or re-take that which has been denied.

Now we live in a ruthless and vengeful place. We are no longer a country in the real sense of the word. We are more the subjects of an illegitimate regime that cannot allow for any dissent or disagreement with its own priorities. Having hijacked into service a bumbling idiot who is related with one of the head honchos of this massive oligarchy, they are in the process of not just taking over this country and its military, but of the world and its resources for their own personal profit.

So many people have allowed them to do it and been brought in to help enable their efforts that we cannot look at Congress and say they are idiots. They are just more of the pigs at the trough. They were and are buyable and thus sluts of the filthiest kind. For a few shekels of gold they have sold their souls and this former country down the river and into the hands of a band of thieves who want world dominance and have been stealthily acquiring all resources while the rest of us bathed in our endless open taps of water (do we know where Neil Bush is right now?) and bought our bottled water and made every matter plaguing this planet worse because we were told and believed that eventually the government will help us out. Well, guess what? They only want what is in our pockets and have nothing to offer in return.

Dear Danny- Your visit into another dimension reminds me of several events in my life. As a child mass every Sunday was in Latin until I was 20 or so. Thank goodness, I have had the opportunity to read and experience the spiritual world or word through so many channels. Freedom of religion or freedom of no religion is an incrediable right that is not always shared in other countries. Women all over the world are not allowed to read or can’t. The Rev. John Lathrop is one of my ancestors and deeply believed in the separation of church and state (1623). Thus some early tolerance here in the New World.

Currently as a classroom teacher of mostly English Learners I am constantly realizing that little kids have no clue about what I am talking about. Believe me, the American education system has its own rituals. About 50% of the kids never really understand it or are able to fit in, thus they drop out. Some of the little kids must think of me as you thought of the old men. Why bother to understand? Perhaps understanding the language is important and perhaps understanding the message are different things.

I took a college course in teaching reading from a Dr. Mustafa. She made us learn to read a short book in Egyptian. What an ordeal for me. I have my own set of learning difficulties. Now I better understand what the kids go through. I had on their moccasins so to speak. Your visit to the synagogue, maybe it made you stop, slow down, and smell the roses. Memories. So sad—- one moment of peace we can not seem to cling to even if we want to.

The whole world seems to have blinders on. My religion is the best!!! My country is the best!!! What kind of madness does this bring? The present administration in the white house and war….

Dr. Nurit Peled-Elhanan is a Lecturer in Language Education at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In September 1997, Nurit’s daughter Samarder was killed by a Palestinian suicide bomber. She spoke recently at the Connecticult College in New London:

Because children are abstract entities for generals and grief is a political tool. Living at both sides, that of the victims and that of the killers, I keep asking myself, what are the means by which good Israeli children are turned into murdering monsters, what are the means by which they are so mind-infected as to kill and torture and humiliate other children, their parents and grandparents, and sacrifice their own life for nothing but the folly and megalomania of their chiefs?

In the so-called Western enlightened world everyone feels very well-founded when they blame Islam for suicide bombing and terror. But who would ever blame Judaism for murder? And yet, Ulta Orthodox Jewish children who have never left Brooklyn know that to kill Arabs is a ‘mitzva’ (holy commandment) for they are ‘vilde hayeths’ (wild beasts). And Israeli children actually commit the crimes of slaughter and torture….
