Show the War? You Say Yes!
Show The War, Tell The Truth Campaign
Readers and organizations are endorsing our new campaign. We’ve received supportive notes from Jeff Cohen, founder of FAIR and Bob Fertik of Democrats.com. San Francisco’s Media Alliance is ready to work on it as well. We are expecting more media reform organizations to join us. Here are some of your comments and letters:
Sarah Meyers writes from England: “Demand The Truth:”
She shares a “must watch flash presentation.”

Tamara Knowles is on board from Alabama:
“We will join you. my daughter ava, a 15 year old alabama activist, has created many anti-war animations that are very powerful (available on her website, www.peacetakescourage.com) she and i will do everything we can to support and participate. we live in an area where it is difficult to get any attention whatsoever from media (who are afraid of losing their jobs). i think ava’s story (who at 14 created anti-war animations entirely on her own) is a good ‘hook’ for a story (she’s homeschooled as well- because her liberal ideology subjected her to constant criticism and persecution from religious teachers and students in a PUBLIC school)… but that approach merely got ABCNEWS attention as a ‘homeschool’ story
see story at:
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=1059369&page=1“any ideas you have for ‘how to get the media’s attention’ would be much appreciated. we’ve written letters to editors that never were printed…
“tell us how to help and support your ‘coalition of conscience’- and any support you could send to ava, who would love to do film when she becomes an adult, would be much appreciated… perhaps she could help with marketing/outreach or web design (as could my 17 yr old computer “nerd” son, gordon, who knows more about computers than my sister with a CS degree- www.linuxinit.com), or i could contribute legally… any way we can fontribute and become a part just let us know
See Ava’s atest animation (about the 2000 hallmark) at:

Dave Pattarozzi wrotes, “To whom it may concern:”
”I agree that we should “show the war” and the way to do so ….is to start with photos of the wounded…..Please do this on the internet and also…… Please do it with photos and not videos ,as many of cannot get the videos….and the time and trouble it takes to down load them…. and the poor quality when you do……makes people give up on doing so…….and please print transcripts with these photos…….There are both parties of the admisitration that use this internet and that way you will reach more people”
Carrie & Elisia Ross-Stone:
”If you are serious, we are are ready. We are constantly writing letters to the editor, to our representatives in Washington. We have an E-zine which we started right after the stolen election and we are LGBT civil rights activists.
“We are ready to fight — have BEEN fighting and are looking to join up with others who are doing the same.”
Florence Murphy says “Show everything about Iraq war;”
”Danny, excellent idea. So much has been hidden from all of us for so long it will take months to finally get the whole picture…caskets, maimed and mentally injured at Walter Read and where do they go once they are dis- charged from there, the horrors of torture of their so called detainees, The complete picture of what this cabal of neo-cons did to our nation; the lies and propaganda delivered by our so-called news media with NO investigation of truth. Those who embraced the ideology of this administration are all guilty and have blood on their hands not only of the 2000 Americans but, also, of the many hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed and maimed physically and mentally. What a terrible tragedy these people have visited upon the world!
“Thanks for all you have done.”
Rick Marone says “SHOW IT”
”ABSOLUTELY “SHOW THE WAR, TELL THE TRUTH”.
AMERICA and its media have been infected by this disgusting administration long enough.”
SOME PAPERS DEFY PENTAGON REQUEST
MEANWHILE, There has been some media independence surfacing as Editor and Publisher, the magazine of the newpspaper industry reports:
”Papers, Ignoring Pentagon Plea, Mark 2,000th U.S. Death in Iraq
NEW YORK Going against the expressed wishes of the Pentagon, several top U.S. newspapers treated the tragic arrival of the 2,000th American military death in Iraq as a major milestone Wednesday. The New York Times even used that officially disapproved phrase in a headline at the top of a page. USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, and The Washington Post all carried special features.
“On Tuesday, U.S. Army Lt. Col. Steve Boylan, a military spokesman in Iraq, wrote in an e-mail to reporters, “The 2,000 service members killed in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom is not a milestone. It is an artificial mark on the wall set by individuals or groups with specific agendas and ulterior motives.”
“But on Wednesday, the Times ran a front-page story marking the 2,000th fatality — plus four pages of photos of the dead inside. The gallery covered every death since the paper last performed this service, at the 1,000 mark in early September 2004….”

Danny,
I am in total agreement with “Show the War - Tell the Truth”. The war needs to become a reality for people, most of whom seem to be in deep denial that anything is really wrong. By showing the war in pictures and film they will be challenged to confront the truth of what this war really is - a huge machine which is chewing American and Iraqi people alike and discarding their remains without compassion or conscience. Whatever I can do to help, I certainly will.
October 27th, 2005 at 12:12 pmI think you’re all nuts! Especially Tamara Know-less,who has a 15 yr old activist daughter, who wants to be in films when she grows up.”You have
October 27th, 2005 at 4:25 pmyour priorities all wrong lady!” You should be teaching your daughter that if it were not for a
strong U.S.Military fighting wars for the past 100 years, there would be no United States of Ame-rica today! Also,if it were not for all our brave
young soldiers in the military today, putting the-
ir young lives on the line every day,in the stro-
ngest military on the face of the earth, little Ava wouldn’t have an opportunity to grow up,
much less grow up to become a movie star. When are you people going to get real!
I am also in total agreement with Show the War - Tell the Truth. I want the lies of our government exposed. The 2000 KIA is sad and outrageous. There never were any WMD in Iraq. This war is based on lies and oil. Bring our troops home now!!!
October 27th, 2005 at 7:38 pmI am in total agreement with Show The War - Tell The Truth. How the Bush administration has been let off the hook by the American people is unbelievable to me. At this point, I don’t know why the entire country isn’t standing on the White House lawn demanding the facts.
