Wendi Meremark has an astrological perspective:
Shells from the astrological peanut gallery hit on the point that Harriet Miers was born (Aug. 10, 1945) at the time world events were reacting to Nagasaki’s annihilation under the second atom bomb (dropped Aug. 9, in Japan). If ever the Senate should “disadvise and dissent” by citing their “nuclear option,” this nominee was born for it.
As the planets have progressed from their starting pattern on her birthday, she came to discover a BIG secret LIE at the (1988) end of a 6-year involvement, some secret she made book on, richly rewarded for holding the secret. That looks like the time of her big score but I don’t see what form it took. Where was she then, 1982-8.
DXM: ‘THE GEEZE’
With this convergence of Ramadan for a Muslim calendar month, Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, and the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, maybe we’ll get a Miracle outa the Monotheistic deal. Now THAT would be news! But don’t count on it. The god of the King James Version of the Holy Bible (written by Willie Shakespeare) may be El Coyote, who plays tricks on the faithful; two hurricanes in a calendar month ain’t exactly what you’d call a blessing except to Halliburton…

ON/OFF SUBJECT: Scooter Libby and Bill Bennett were among the original signers of the neocon’s Project for a New American Century (PNAC) document.
Lawrence Hougheling writes:
Your various reports on Judith Miller today were almost confusing.
You admitted that you had backed her right to remain silent because you so strongly back that right for journalists in general.
But one of the follow-up bits laid out another (and, it seems to me, much likelier) possibility — that Judith was in effect playing on the other side, colluding with the Rove-Libby set, probably acting as THEIR source. (Which would make all the reports of “Judith Miller, who served 85 days in jail to protect her sources” etc. so much nonsense.)
One peculiar — very peculiar — feature of the entire affair is the role of the Times. Joseph Wilson was pilloried and his wife was “outed” as a CIA agent in large part because Wilson had the nerve to question the Bush administration’s policies, honesty and wisdom … IN THE PAGES OF NEW YORK TIMES! You’d think the Times would have a strong desire to insure that people bold enough to be critical of the powers-that-be on its Op-Ed page would be protected against being trashed by the dishonest and unwise people who staff the Bush administration, and that it would wish to get to the bottom of the story of “who put our guy Joe (and Joe’s wife) up against the wall?
Instead, the Times decided to back the right of Judith Miller to refuse to answer questions in the matter, questions which on the face of them are apt and don’t involve any “fishing expeditions.”
The Times chose Miller, who a year back, in its famous limited hangout Mea Culpa, it didn’t name but completely implicated as being responsible for some of the most skewed articles in the newspaper’s history, over a guy who made a difficult decision to criticize wrongdoing in the paper’s pages. “All the Shit that Fits We Choose.”
