MOVE ON “STUCK?”
DEAN TO RUN DEMS
It’s Groundhog Day. If you saw the movie, you will recall that Bill Murray kept going back to the same old place. That’s probably what we can expect tonight when President Bush gives his annual State of the terror war speech. (For my take, see “State of the Media Address” on MediaChannel.org) The Washington Post reports: ” President Bush plans to further his case for remaking Social Security during his State of the Union address, a speech also expected to celebrate the spread of democracy.”
As for the Democrats, the NY Times reports this morning: “Howard Dean is almost assured to be the new leader of the Democratic National Committee after a main rival quit the race.”
POPE OUT OF DANGER?
**Early reports from Rome today indicate that an ailing Pope is recovering. The Vatican says no cause for alarm.
i cannot understand why bush wants to obliterate social security. neither can i understand why he wants to obliterate life as we know it…and since it was the pope who said bush alone would be responsible for changing the entire course of humanity (as he embarked on his plan to invade and occupy iraq) i pray that the pope hangs on, and hangs on, and hangs on … we need him!

As for Dean’s nomination, well, for what it’s worth I think it will take a lot more than one person, Howard the hopeful, to fix the broken Democratic Party. Supporters of the Democratic party, including my former self, are starting to sound like Bush supporters by continuing to support a party that does not represent their values. The GOP has not moved on any real legislation (except for show) to address abortion and gay marriage. In fact, Bush made a speech recently stating he would not be introducing any new legislation on abortion.
The Democratic supporters are just as bad for supporting a party that does not support their values by passing every single legislation and nomination presented by Bush & Co. Tax cuts for the rich, vote for war and continued increase in spending to support it, nomination of Peter Goss and Rice and I’m told now they will not filibuster Alberto “Mr. Torture” Gonzales’ nomination.
I’m really tired of the same excuse I hear from fellow victims that support the Democratic party, “Oh, they can’t oppose that issue, it will make us look bad.” Huh? I’m waiting for our senators to ask, “Does my position on this issue make me look fat?”
Isn’t the definition of insanity doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results? We know the Bush supporters are nuts, but what about us?
Go ahead Dean supporters, burn me at the stake, but I believe it is time to support a third party. One who puts people before profit.
