At Last, Pacifica Speaks — A Debate!

The Pacifica Network has broken its silence. With support from a pricey PR firm, Executive Director Bessie Wash is now going public with the official thinking that has led to so much unheaval within the listener supported community radio stations known for their progressive outlook. An actual debate took place today –a first!–in the op-ed pages of the New York Daily News over the issues surrounding ongoing protests at WBAI-FM. Bessie Wash is the Washington based director of Pacifica. Leslie Cagan, a long time activist, is a member of the Pacifica Board who supports staffers and listeners at WBAI resisting ultimatums coming down from the central office.
