ACTOR DANNY GLOVER CONVICTED IN UNION DISPUTE
I just spoke with Danny last week in Sundance where he was involved with two great films. Now, he’s making news
YAHOO: NIAGARA FALLS, Ontario – Danny Glover has been convicted in Niagara Falls, Ontario, for trespassing in a hotel during a union rally in 2006. INEQUITY IN MEDIA COVERAGE IN FLORIDA
LETTER
Bradley Laing, on the Right and Hugh Ledger
Danny, two years ago, when Hollywood was being whammed for “Brokeback Mountain,” the Free Republic websites reaction was a slew of homosexual jokes, but no idea of what a *non-liberal* film industry would look like, even as Marc Steyn wrote front page articles in “The National Review” suggesting Hollywood would go under because of liberal message movies.
Now, with Heath Ledgers death—-the Free Republic protesters’ …are defending Ledger agianst the homosexual-bashing Westboro Baptist Church.
Boy, here I am wishing they’d consistently complain about Hollywood and then think of something different, and now here I am glad they actually *like* Hollywood made movies and television shows, and the commercial culture of celebrity.
“Between the ideal and the reality…falls the shadow.”–quote from Hunter S. Thompsons “Fear and Loathing on the cmapaign Trail ’72.”
I guess the shadow can contain empathy for the stars of liberal message movies about Gay Cowboys?
Or does it have more to do with the “Batman” fan base? (Ledger as “the Joker” in the upcoming summer film.)

I WANT MEDIA.COM: Time Warner Nearly ‘Owns’ Ledger Story
Time Warner’s CNN is airing many interviews with journalists from corporate sibling TMZ.com about the death of Heath Ledger. Meanwhile, Time Inc.’s People will be the first celebrity weekly with a cover story about the actor, whose “The Dark Knight,” possibly his final film, is from Warner Bros.
Will Marketing Change After Star’s Death?
Heath Ledger’s death is raising questions about Warner Bros.’s elaborate online campaign for his new Batman film. The Joker, Ledger’s character, is the central focus of multiple Web sites — from IBelieveinHarveyDent.com to TheGothamTimes.com — that have been hyping the movie for months.
HOTEL CALIFORNIA
I am leaving all this celebrity blues behind this weekend. I am off to Santa Cruz to take part in a media activist summit. If you are in the neighborhood, say hello.
